About the speakers


  • Gareth Fairweather leads Arup’s work on cities in the north of the UK, drawing on his experience in the public sector, both in London and New Zealand. Gareth is a senior leader in urban and regional development, governance and infrastructure delivery, with extensive experience of strategic planning, and public policy, and infrastructure funding and finance.


  • Alastair Gordon is experienced in multidisciplinary design work and is a strong communicator, able to liaise with stakeholders and local authority officers and members with confidence. He is a Chartered Civil Engineer with significant experience of delivering schemes within urban centres. Alastair leads Arup’s Cities Planning and Design team in the North-West and Yorkshire. He is also the Chair of the West and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce Transport Board.
