In this session, we will guide you through some of the basic building blocks of monitoring and evaluation through relevant, interactive case studies to apply your learning. Together, we will work through:
Creating a logic map and theory of change
Choosing the best indicators to monitor
Quantitative impact evaluation methods

Facilitators
Csaba Pogonyi
Csaba Pogonyi is an economist and evaluation expert with a particular focus on big data analysis and evidence-based policy-making. Prior to joining Arup, Csaba completed his PhD on the wider economic benefits of transportation at Imperial College London. In addition to providing evidence-based solutions for cities, he understands the importance of communication and multidisciplinary approaches. Csaba actively contributes to efforts to update UK transport evaluation and appraisal guidance.
Lorena Cruz Serrano
Lorena Cruz Serrano has 7 years of experience in policy, governance and delivery of complex investment programmes. She has advised decision makers in the UK and overseas on the adoption and implementation of evidence-based frameworks for infrastructure strategic planning, appraisal, monitoring and evaluation. Lorena has experience in undertaking ex-post evaluations of investment programmes, including the development of theories of change, fieldwork research (interviews), baselining as well as collection and analysis of monitoring data. Lorena’s experience and technical expertise in research and analysing economic and social value considerations in climate-resilience and net-zero related policies delivers valuable insights throughout the evaluation process.
