Arts Performance Spaces Working Group
Online
Description
Arts performance spaces, such as theatres, studios and cinemas, are a vital element of the cultural hubs for many towns across the UK. They form part of a town’s heritage and cultural identity, and hold strong emotional connections for local communities. Their economic impact for a town cannot be underestimated, as the regeneration projects aimed at revitalising arts performance spaces are the catalysts for wider regeneration opportunities and for improvement in a place’s visitor economy.
It is, however clear that these projects have particularly unique challenges, such as stringent planning constraints, working around performance schedules and achieving operational viability without subsidy, alongside the main challenges that most projects face. This working group is aimed at establishing a network for arts performance space places, to enable them to share experience of challenges and opportunities in delivering projects, and to benefit from collective lessons learned.
